Fibre is a type of technology which uses glass or plastic threads (or fibres – hence the name) to transfer and transmit data to the consumer. The collection of these fibres is bundled within a fibre optic cable, and each of these fibres have the ability to transfer messages into light waves. This means that these fibres can carry much more information weight compared to the usual copper threads used, as well as being less exposed to electromagnetic interference. Along with that, Fibre can also carry more bandwidth than the normal copper connectors and can perform at a standard of up to 10Gps and more. More bandwidth is equal to fibre being able to carry more information with more data safety than copper. Fibre does not emit any type of signal meaning it would be harder to hack into. Should there be an effort for someone to hack or break the security of your fibre to your home, you will be aware of the safety issue straight away. Fibre can survive the elements much stronger than its previous predecessor, copper.
